In March 2018 the government announced its £67m Gigabit Broadband Voucher Scheme, part of the Local Full Fibre Networks programme – with the aim of increasing full fibre coverage across the UK.
How the vouchers are used
The Gigabit vouchers can be used by small businesses and the local communities surrounding them to contribute to the installation cost of a gigabit capable connection. Businesses can claim up to £3,000 against the cost of connection (either individually or as part of a group project).
What this means for ISPs
The scheme presents a great opportunity for ISPs and the telecoms press are already reporting on roll out schemes around the country by the likes of Daisy.
How to take advantage as an ISP.
To qualify as an official supplier, the criteria suggests all applicants are a member of a recognised telecoms trade body. The ITP is offering Corporate Associate packages to any ISPs looking to register and take advantage of the membership benefits.
